Area of operation
GWEN operates in Seke rural which composes of Dema, Mayambara, Beatrice urban and farm community.
Chitungwiza composed of Nyatsime, Manyame, Zengeza, St Mary’s and Seke urban.
The organisation has permission to work in the greater Harare area and currently
has activities in East View/ Caledonia.

Projects

  • A piggery being run to enable the organisation to generate funds and support less privileged girls within the area with school fees and other basic needs.
  • Community nutrition garden. The garden project will also benefit the young women with income generation for small health emergencies
  • Successfully supporting 500 girls per year with menstrual hygiene kits and information on SRHR
  • In the past 7 years, GWEN has reached out to over 5 000 Girls and young women with information and services That empower them in many respects of their life; trained and supported 800 young women with inputs For detergent making projects which are functional to Date.
  • Training of basic counselling and creation of Peer Support Network (PSN) as local
    Community structures to support survivors of SGBV in Seke.
  • Created safe spaces for learning and engagement on various issues affecting AGYW through sport in Seke and Chitungwiza with an annual sports tournament held consistently since 2017.
  • Girls and women empowerment network (GWEN) secured 4 hectares of land in Seke
    Rural ward 7
  • Created and strengthened the engagement System with community leaders such as
    Chiefs, village heads, church leaders among others in responding to challenges
    Affecting adolescent girls and young women (AGYW)
  • Successfully ran HEFORSHE campaign reaching out to 36000 citizens

The shopping basket list contains materials and resources that GWEN needs from stakeholders, partners and friends to realize its vision of a Zimbabwe where the rights of girls and young women are respected, promoted and fulfilled . You can donate in kind, in cash or material.
1. Sanitary pads, panties and soap to support girls’ health menstrual experience and to ensure they do not miss school because of periods.
2. Financial support for girls’ school fees to support girls’ education Aimed attending the cycle of poverty and guaranteeing girls a better life.
3. Soccer and netball balls for adolescent girls and young women so that they distress and refresh.
4. Construction of girls’ shelters and study rooms.
5. Study room furniture, equipment and computers.

3. Construction and set up of piggery slaughter and cold room facility at GWEN centre in Seke.
